How reflexology can help couples to conceive

Posted by HSFCblog in Uncategorized 13 Jun 2017

Harley Street Fertility Clinic is partnering with complementary therapist Jeanette Wallis, an experienced reflexologist who has been working in this area since 1989.

Jeanette specialises in the field of fertility, including problems for patients who are going through fertility treatment, have no known reason for not getting pregnant, have suffered miscarriage(s), or have secondary infertility.

Over the years, Jeanette has helped many couples achieve their dream of starting or extending their family.

Reflexology is a traditional healing art dating back to the ancient Egyptians and Chinese.  In simplest terms treatment involves the manipulation of pressure or ‘reflex’ points in both the hands and feet and it is often used to ease pain, headaches, sinus and back problems, amongst others.

Jeanette explains, “The soles of the feet are like a mini-map of the inside of the body and are linked to our inner organs and systems, including the fallopian tubes and ovaries. By massaging different points on the feet, reflexology can unblock energy pathways and so help the body to regain its natural balance and heal itself. Key points on the foot are associated with a woman’s egg production and by manipulating these areas we can correct the imbalances which can hamper pregnancy.”

Reflexology is relaxing and calming. Research shows that it can also help to lower your blood pressure and heart rate, relieve tiredness and help patients to sleep better. There is also evidence that reflexology can have a positive effect on your quality of life and reduce both stress and anxiety – which is key for fertility.
