“Being in a same-sex couple meant we needed to use donor sperm. We chose IUI to increase our chance of conceiving.”

“We knew that using sperm donor and IUI were our only chance of conceiving. My husband had azoospermia, meaning we would never be able to conceive using his sperm. Using donor sperm helped us have the baby that we longed for.”

IUI, or Intra-Uterine Insemination (IUI), is sometimes referred to as artificial insemination, because it involves placing prepared sperm into the woman’s womb near the time of ovulation. It is used by couples with unexplained fertility issues, couples who use frozen sperm, or same-sex couples. IUI can be performed with the partner’s sperm or with donor sperm.

We are pleased to announce our information evening on IUI and Using sperm donor on Friday, 18th September 2020 at 7:30pm.

Learn about mild IUI (in a natural cycle) or stimulated IUI (using fertility drugs), or when to consider using donor sperm. Practical steps will be discussed.

The panel will include:
– Dr Geetha Venkat, Director and senior consultant at HSFC;
– Dr Suvir Venkataraman, General Manager at HSFC;
– Mrs Dharshi Kiruba, Head of Donation HSFC;
– Mrs Bijal Gill, Patient Coordinator HSFC.

A recording of the event is available below.
