24-year-old Carrie choose to donate her eggs at Harley Street Fertility Clinic.
“I wanted to donate my eggs as I really believe in helping people.
I knew how the process was going to go from start to finish. I was even sent a YouTube link of the procedure by the Clinic. The doctors and staff were some of the nicest people I have ever met and that made me feel very comfortable with the whole process.
I took a friend with me when I had the surgery which only takes 15 minutes. I was made to feel so at ease, most of the staff there I had met before so they were all familiar.
I remember seeing a lovely couple opposite me when I was sitting in the waiting room and I looked at them and thought this is why I’m doing it, for couples like them – I couldn’t stop smiling. For me to take a couple of weeks out my life and be able to give a couple their dream of having a baby is life- changing.”
Carrie has started to think about conceiving a child in the future, she adds;
“By the time I want to or am ready to have children, it may not be feasible for me – who knows I may have to go down the IVF route. I would therefore like to think that there are others that would help me, like I have done for others.
I know I cannot pick or choose who receives my eggs, but that is not important to me. It is not relevant who gets them because whoever does is starting their dream of having a family and that’s all that matters.”
