How Reflexology Can Play a Role in Fixing Fertility

Fertility issues aren’t something anyone expects to have to deal with, so when they do happen, they can cause a whole host of feelings. Anger, guilt, grief, hurt, and despair are all on the list and while totally natural, none of these help you to be calm and relaxed – which is the state of mind needed when you are trying to conceive, regulate your periods and ovulation.

While complementary therapies like reflexology might not fix the problem, they can make a difference to overall emotional health and wellbeing, therefore might be worth trying, if trying itself isn’t leading to a pregnancy.

Reflexology is based on the belief that specific areas in your feet and hands (reflex points) link to your organs and other specific parts of your body and putting pressure on these points can help stimulate or restore the flow of energy in your body, and help give you a better chance of conceiving naturally.

Jeanette Wallis, a fully qualified Reflexologist and Fertility Coach working with the Harley Street Fertility Clinic, says, “I help women with fertility, ovulation and menstrual cycle problems, as well as trying to rebalance their hormones via reflexology. Different points on your hands and feet are linked to your ovaries, fallopian tubes, and womb, and gentle pressure can change the status quo.

“The majority of women I treat for fertility issues are in their mid 30’s to mid 40s who have left having a child until later in life, but find that it simply isn’t happening. In many of these cases, layers of negative emotion build and create an emotional bock that can make the situation worse, especially if no medical factors have been revealed.

“While there is no replacement for medical professionals, my clients find that by taking a holistic approach we do get to the bottom of some of their problems. As well as reflexology, I also use NLP techniques that can help people let go of the negative thinking that is affecting their wellness, state of mind and possibly their fertility too.”

Of course, there is no quick fix when it comes to fertility, but sometimes when we look past the medical jargon and drugs, and treat our mind, body and soul, things can change.

NOTES TO EDITORS

Reflexology is a complementary therapy and as such it sits beside conventional medicine and the other treatments you’re having. Do your research and choose a reflexologist who is well trained, qualified, insured and who you trust.
