We spoke with Nader AlSalim, the founder and CEO of Gaia, who told us about the reasons of founding Gaia, the company that is redesigning the way that you pay for IVF. Gaia are a London-based clinic who have partnered with other fertility clinics all over the UK.
How was Gaia founded and why?
Nader told us that Gaia was founded in 2019 and it was started on the very simple premise that, “parenthood should be a fundamental right for everyone and not just a luxury for those who can afford it.” Nader himself has been an IVF patient and he found out first-hand how hard and unfair the process can be. It was his frustration with the process that led to him trying to find a better solution for many parents to come after him, because “Genuinely I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to start a family regardless of their financial situation in life,” he adds.
What can Gaia offer to HSFC Patients?
Gaia has redesigned how to pay for IVF. Their new insurance model offers a totally new way to pay for treatment and care. He says, “At the point that Patients at HSFC first go into the clinic, we predict the likelihood that they are going to have a child and then we insure them against the risk of the failure, meaning that if they don’t have a live birth within the perimeters we predicted, they only pay a fraction of the cost. If they do have a baby, they pay it back in monthly instalments. All maximum costs are made clear to the patients, allowing them to pursue the treatment without the financial unknown.” As part of the package, all patients are offered a comprehensive support package, which recognises the mental and emotional impact that fertility treatment can have.
About partnering with HSFC
Nader tells us, “When we saw HSFC, we felt that there were certain elements that were aligned between the two companies.
