Harley Street Fertility Clinic is a family clinic. We are committed and dedicated to our patients, from the first moment they call us or set foot in our clinic, to the moment they come to show us the babies we helped create.

Beside our amazing team of consultants and clinical staff, we also have in-house counsellors and holistic practitioners such as reflexologists and acupuncturists, supporting our patients all the way through their treatment.

Today we would like to present to you our talented Carys Morgan, an acupuncturist at Harley Street Fertility Clinic. Trained at The College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading, Berkshire, Carys has studied both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element  Acupuncture.

“I came into acupuncture because my own daughter became quite ill. Having contracted glandular fever at the age of 15, she then developed a post-viral fatigue condition. Not much was known about this condition at the time, so, as a last resort, I took her to see an acupuncturist to see if it might help to restore her energy levels and alleviate her frequent, and at times, debilitating migraines. With treatment, she not only grew in strength but became significantly brighter in herself. I was very curious to understand how acupuncture had achieved this, so I did my research and ended up going to an open day at a College of Chinese Medicine. The Principal subsequently invited me to attend an interview, and 4 years later I qualified”. Carys has since undertaken many post-graduate studies, to include Acupuncture for Fertility, Pregnancy and Childbirth and Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Anxiety and Depressive Disorders, and Food Energetics.

Both passionate and enthusiastic about all that Acupuncture has to offer, Carys considers herself to be a pioneer in her field and is committed to working alongside Western Medicine. “Whilst I love the fertility and pregnancy aspect of my job, I am also interested in what acupuncture can offer in terms of a safe and drug-free approach to stabilising the emotions and alleviating stress and anxiety.”

Having studied meditation and mindfulness, Carys works holistically with the emotional, spiritual and physical body simultaneously and has had much success in supporting clients in all aspects of their IVF programmes, leading to exceptional results in areas of infertility. “Acupuncture can be used to regulate ovulation, stimulate follicle growth and can contribute to improving egg quality. Acupuncture improves uterine blood flow which can ensure a thick uterine lining and sets up an ideal environment for implantation”.

The mindfulness approach is based on her own life experiences, having suffered from anxiety herself in the past. "In order to realise my potential, I learned skills to control my ‘monkey mind’, to give myself the optimal chance of realising the best version of myself. I have endured and survived many challenges in life, and this is a great leveller when I meet patients who feel they are struggling to stay in control of their hopes and dreams, and ultimately their destinies. Acupuncture can really help to steady and ground the emotions and there is a feeling of wellbeing following each session."

When asked what she liked the most about her job, Carys simply replies: "The people. I am fascinated by people. I have enormous compassion. I give people time and space to offload, to explore and to challenge their thinking. I learn so much from my patients! It’s a wonderful give and take relationship." Carys loves the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives. "Patients can come into my treatment room looking like they are carrying the world on their shoulders, and after treatment, I can see how happy and relaxed they are when they leave. I am so fortunate to be involved in that transition."

What about working at Harley Street Fertility Clinic? Carys says that "it’s a joy to be working in such an inspiring family-run clinic; to be given an opportunity to use my skill set to complement Western Medicine. I am shown enormous respect in my field here and I thank Dr Venkat wholeheartedly for her insight, wisdom and support in allowing me a platform for my work."

"I prayed to work in a place where I could best use my individual skill set. I am privileged to be able to do that in-house, here, at Harley Street Fertility Clinic," concludes the wonderful Carys Morgan, our Harley Street Fertility Clinic beloved family member.
