Nicole and Sara have been together for 14 years and decided 8 years ago that they wanted to become parents.
After using a sperm donor, Nicole managed to get pregnant but sadly suffered a miscarriage. After this, she failed to conceive naturally and in 2012, after the couple married, they decided to start IVF treatment at Harley Street Fertility Clinic.
The first cycle of IVF was unsuccessful, so they decided to go for a second attempt. This time, the couple fell pregnant but unfortunately Nicole had another miscarriage at just over seven weeks. It was ectopic and Nicole had to have emergency surgery to have the baby and a fallopian tube removed.
It was a difficult time and they had to wait three months after the surgery before trying again. The couple went for a third cycle of IVF and Nicole fell pregnant with twin boys, Jamie and Drew. However, after 19 weeks she went into premature labour and tragically lost both the twins in January 2014.
Nicole comments; “It was a very hard time and Sara and I were absolutely devastated. But we had been together so long and are such a strong couple that if anything it made us more determined to keep trying.”
Later that year in May, they attempted an embryo transfer to try and conceive, but it didn’t work. On their anniversary, 27th August, they decided to try once more and this time Nicole fell pregnant. Nine months later she gave birth to beautiful baby Tyler and she and Sara were absolutely delighted!
Nicole says: “I don’t know what we would have done without Dr Venkat and the rest of the team at the Harley Street Fertility Clinic, who were all so supportive and brilliant throughout the whole process. We couldn’t have done this without all the love and support of our friends and family. Now we can enjoy parenthood!”
